Xstrata capex plan

ZURICH, Feb 1 – Xstrata has outlined seven key capital expenditure projects, with a combined value of US$2.6B, approved during 2011.
In thermal coal, the company is developing the 7Mtpa Ulan open cut project in Australia and the Tweefontein optimisation project in South Africa which will produce 4Mtpa subject to final environmental approvals.
Xstrata is also contributing to the expansion of the joint venture Cerrejón thermal coal operation in Colombia to 40Mtpa.
Major nickel development projects include the 6,000tpa Fraser Morgan mine and expansion to 40,000tpa at the Raglan mine, both in Canada.
The 126,000tpa greenfield Lady Loretta project in the Mount Isa region of Australia heads the zinc projects and the major copper development is the 30,000tpa Mount Margaret project in Australia.
